About Us

We’re a trusted provider of professional staffing and recruiting services in the Puget Sound region.

Serving The Community Since 1998

West Sound Workforce is a professional placement and staffing service established in 1998 by Julie Tappero and now owned and operated by Monica Blackwood. As a certified woman-owned small business, we are recognized by Washington State as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). Because of this certification, clients can trust that our services meet high professional standards while also supporting diverse business ownership.

Our company is locally owned and connects job seekers and employers in the South Sound and Kitsap Peninsula, including Kent, Federal Way, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Port Orchard, Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, Bainbridge Island, Kingston, Port Ludlow, Port Townsend, and more from our Poulsbo and Gig Harbor offices. In other words, we serve the heart of Western Washington, helping businesses and candidates thrive close to home.

When You Trust Your Career to West Sound Workforce, You Gain:

Flexibility

As an independently owned organization, we aren’t tied to rigid processes or corporate red tape often found in national chains. Instead, we adapt our approach to your unique needs. We are more than a temporary staffing company. In fact, we provide a full array of staffing and recruiting services, including temporary, temp-to-hire, direct hire, and HR services.

HR Expertise

All our recruiters come from an HR background, bringing extensive knowledge and insight to every placement. Furthermore, we hold certifications, participate in professional organizations, and continually refresh our knowledge. Because we stay current on the latest standards, regulations, and laws, we can act as a reliable resource for both employers and job seekers. Ultimately, we consider ourselves partners with our clients and candidates, always keeping their best interests at the center of our work.

Diversity

We find diversity in many channels. For example, we partner as a YesVets employer, maintain an MOU with the Welcome Home Project, and serve on the Kitsap Supported Employment Business Advisory Committee. We are also active in Vet Tribe. Moreover, we have studied how language choices influence talent attraction, and we craft our job descriptions and advertisements to reflect this knowledge and support our DE&I initiatives.
