Is Online Shopping Hurting Your Company?

Online shopping can hurt your employees' productivity.

Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, is reputedly the biggest online shopping day of the year.  Consequently, employers worry that this also means the day of the year they experience the biggest drop in employee productivity.

In truth, it’s been proven over the last few years that Cyber Monday is not indeed the best day of the year for online transactions.  But that doesn’t mean that holiday internet shopping isn’t hurting companies’ productivity!

15 days before Christmas, more online transactions will occur than any other time of the year.  And many of those will take place from a company computer during normal business hours.

And even if Cyber Monday isn’t all it’s cracked up to be yet, that doesn’t mean employers shouldn’t be wary!

Every year, Cyber Monday is promoted more and more by retail businesses, and gets more coverage in the media.  There are entire websites devoted to helping people locate the best Cyber Monday steals.  The odds are good that Cyber Monday is well on its way to becoming a massively popular holiday shopping tradition like Black Friday.

So get your internet and computer usage policies in order now, and be ready for the holiday season, because it’s heading our way fast!
